This is Issue #8 of our Top Tweets Tuesday series where we share the top college prep tweets we’ve come across to make planning for college just a little bit easier. Whether you’re just starting high school or you’re on your 15th campus tour this year, we hope we can offer a little insight and reassurance on your college bound journey. 

We have been seeing this a lot recently: colleges want to see that you can do well in college prep or college level courses. According to Veritas Prep, “if you are applying to competitive colleges, you can’t afford to be the only applicant without AP classes on your transcript.”

By now, you definitely know about the big change to the FAFSA this year.. hopefully. For the first time ever, the FAFSA became available on October 1st, instead of January. Even with this extra time, there will be students out there who miss out on thousands of dollars in financial aid just by not completing it by the deadline, or at all! Learn more about the most common mistakes that are made so that your family can avoid them!

Students needing a little help narrowing down their college list can use this great tool from the College Board to see a side-by-side comparison. This will allow you to see an overview of each school so that you can compare and contrast by size, location, cost, and admission requirements.

If you are overwhelmed by the thought of filling out the FAFSA, here is a simple 8 step guide to getting it done. Remember, aid is awarded on a first-come, first serve basis, so be sure to submit your FAFSA as soon as possible!
